The National Stadium

Jamaica’s National Stadium was built in 1962 and was first used for a boxing match where Bunny Grant won the Commonwealth Lightweight Boxing Champion title Jamaica’s Independence Celebration was held at the National Stadium in August 1962 where the British Flag was lowered and the Jamaican flag hoisted for the first time. Since then, the stadium has hosted the 1962 Central American and Caribbean Games and the British Empire & Commonwealth Games in 1966.

In addition, the National Stadium has hosted international concerts, such as Bob Marley’s One Love Peace and Buju Banton’s A Walk to Freedom It has also hosted major sporting events such as Boys and Girls Championships, the Jamaica International Invitational Track Meet, The Racers International Track Meet, CONCACAF Caribbean Women’s Qualifiers and Reggae Boys World Cup qualifiers.

- Five (5) changing rooms on either side of the Macdonald Tunnel

- Three (3) complimentary air-conditioned booths in Grandstand. (additional suites may be rented)
- VIP Lounge on the 4th Floor of Grandstand
